DESCRIPTION

Phycocyanin, a bright blue pigment extracted from spirulina (Arthrospira platensis), has many benefits.

As a potent antioxidant, it effectively combats oxidative stress, thereby preventing cellular damage caused by free radicals (Romay et al., 2003). Furthermore, its anti-inflammatory properties, as demonstrated in several studies, have potential therapeutic implications for inflammatory conditions (Reddy et al., 2000). Its immunomodulatory effects have been documented, suggesting its role in enhancing the immune response (Bhat & Madyastha, 2000).

There is growing interest in its neuroprotective properties and potential hepatoprotective benefits, making phycocyanin a valuable asset in the field of natural health supplements.
